The New York Giants will be searching for a new head coach in 2026.
The team announced on Monday that it has fired head coach Brian Daboll after three-plus seasons with the team. New York is retaining general manager Joe Schoen, though, and he will lead the search for the next head coach.
So, who could the Giants consider?
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, keep an eye on Steve Spagnuolo, Lou Anarumo and Antonio Pierce.
"Among the names I would keep an eye on as the Giants, let's say potential look to kind of regain some of the greatness of the Tom Couglin era, I would say Steve Spagnuolo and Antonio Pierce, two head-coach candidates, both guys they will look at," Rapoport said. "Lou Anarumo also ties to the Giants' organization."
Spagnuolo is a former defensive coordinator of the Giants who also served as the interim head coach for four games in 2017. Spags has head-coaching experience after serving in that role with the St. Louis Rams from 2009-11.
He is currently serving as the Kansas City Chiefs' defensive coordinator.
Pierce spent five of his nine seasons in the NFL as a linebacker with New York. He served as the Las Vegas Raiders' interim head coach in 2023 and was retained for the full-time job in 2024 but was fired after a 4-13 season.
Anarumo spent one season as the Giants' defensive backs coach in 2018 before moving on to become the Cincinnati Bengals' defensive coordinator.
He was fired by Cincinnati in 2025 but was quickly scooped up by the Indianapolis Colts to serve in the same role.
Anarumo and Spagnuolo will both be strong candidates for the Giants job if they are indeed considered, but we have a hard time believing Pierce will get serious consideration after his disastrous tenure with the Raiders.
