San Antonio Spurs icon George Gervin debunked a four-decade-old myth on Monday. The Iceman, who was long rumored to have joined forces with Magic Johnson and Isaiah Thomas to freeze out rookie Michael Jordan during the 1985 All-Star Game, has now set the record straight once and for all.

During an appearance on the All the Smoke podcast, Gervin was questioned by Matt Barnes on the infamous "freeze out." The four-time NBA scoring champion firmly dismissed the decades-old rumor, clarifying that he was eager to “bust up” the rookie on the court.

"Oh, that's a joke, man,"Gervin said. "How am I gonna freeze you out when I'm playing against you? I'm on the other team. You know what I mean. So you know, that's again what tells you about media. I'm grown, y'all. That was my last All-Star Game. I wanted to bust him up cuz he was a rookie. So freeze him out? I want to bust you up. Before I get out of here, I want you to have a touch of Ice."

Gervin further expressed his views on the subject, revealing that he had even spoken directly with Jordan about it. He dismissed the entire narrative as nothing more than a media fabrication.

"I was disappointed, cuz you know I told Mike, 'Man, you didn't believe that stuff, did you, man?' Come on, man. I'm a grown man. I wanna freeze a kid out? He was a kid then, man….That was media, blown out of proportion," he continued.

George Gervin reveals the key trait that helped Michael Jordan elevate his scoring game

Michael Jordan is widely regarded as one of the greatest scorers in NBA history, having won 10 scoring titles during his career. While many believe the Bulls legend was naturally gifted, his former teammate, George Gervin, believes otherwise.

During his appearance on All The Smoke Podcast, Ice Man revealed Jordan worked on a key trait that helped him elevate his scoring.

" Mike had to learn how to shoot. You know, early on in his career, he was a scorer, then he became a scorer and shooter," Gervin said. "So, I ain't saying I could beat you, Mike, but I didn't mind trying."
