For someone who works and works out at home, I’ve amassed quite the collection of reusable water bottles. Maintaining the healthy habit of drinking more water is always my excuse for adding yet another to the mix. After all, the cuter the water bottle, the more likely I am to reach for it and take a swig.
So when I saw the new Bentgo Lift Chug Lid water bottle, I knew I had to try it. As much as I love my Stanley Flowstate, I like to ditch the straw every so often, even if it does save me from dousing myself every time I go in for a sip. But with the Bentgo’s unique lid and leakproof design, I had high expectations that this strawless bottle would become a regular in my hydration rotation. And it has! Here’s why I’m toting around the new Bentgo Lift water bottle like it’s my favorite purse.

Why I Love the Bentgo Lift Water Bottle
The major draw of the Bentgo Lift Chug Lid water bottle is the soft-grip ring handle that’s attached to the lid. It does double the work by keeping the flip top securely closed and offering a comfortable way to tote it around. My major gripe with other water bottles has always been that their handles and/or straws make them unwieldy for carrying and commuting. But not the Bentgo. Just lift the handle and carry it like a bag. I’ve even hung it from the handle of my Peloton Bike during a ride!
It did take me a moment to get used to drinking from the bottle, only because it’s different from others I’ve had. But all you have to do is lift the ring handle and push the little lever with your thumb to pop open the cap (you could also wedge your thumb in under the handle to hit the button so it lifts the cap and the handle at the same time, but I found it easier to open the handle first). I like that the handle folds flat against the bottle so everything stays compact. The mouth is wide enough to comfortably drink from, although I do turn the bottle so that my nose doesn’t bump the edge of the ring handle.
At first I thought the smooth cylindrical shape of the bottle might be a problem because, other than the handle, there is nothing to grip the bottle when you’re actually drinking. But the powder-coated exterior offers plenty of grip so it won’t slip in your hand.

The lid twists off easily from the wide-mouth bottle, which makes it easy to fill with liquid and ice. It also makes it very easy to clean. The Bentgo is top-rack dishwasher friendly, although the manufacturer does recommend handwashing to protect the exterior. I’ve definitely popped the lid in the dishwasher several times already but I’ve been handwashing the bottle itself, at least for now.
The Bentgo Lift Chug Lid Bottle is available in 24-, 32- and 40-ounce sizes in a host of colors. I chose both the 24-ounce in Bubblegum and the 32-ounce in Denim, but soon found myself gravitating toward the more petite 24-ounce bottle. It wasn’t only because of the candy hue—I just prefer a smaller bottle!
With all this talk about design and color, you’re probably wondering: Does it even keep your water cold? Yes, it sure does. The Bentgo Lift water bottle features a stainless steel interior with triple-layer insulation (BPA-free with no PFAs) that keeps liquids cold for up to 24 hours. And yes, I can confirm this to be true: I left ice water in a bottle on my desk after the work day and came back the next morning to surprisingly cold water!
