Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos has commented on Kylian Mbappe equalling one of Cristiano Ronaldo's many records at the club. Ramos was in attendance at the Santiago Bernabeu as Mbappe scored in their 2-0 win against Sevilla on December 20.
After Jude Bellingham's first goal of the night (38'), Kylian Mbappe's penalty against Sevilla (86') marked his 59th goal in the 2025 calendar year. The Frenchman equalled Cristiano Ronaldo's record of having 59 goals in the 2013 calendar year, becoming the club's highest goal scorer in a single year. After scoring, Mbappe paid a tribute to his idol by emulating Ronaldo's iconic Siu celebration.
In an Instagram post following the 2-0 win over Sevilla, former Real Madrid captain congratulated Kylian Mbappe. The Spaniard, who witnessed Mbappe's remarkable achievement at the stadium, wrote:
"Many congratulations, my brother Mbappé. I said it a long time ago... Number one."Kylian Mbappe recorded exceptional numbers in his first season at Real Madrid, recording 44 goals and five assists in 59 outings across competitions. Although he was not able to win as many titles as he had hoped, this season could change that as the Frenchman continues with his stellar form. He has already scored 29 times in just 24 games, alongside bagging five assists across tournaments.

"It's incredible, in my first [full] year to be able to do what Cristiano did. [He’s] my idol, the best player in Real Madrid's history. The celebration is for him. I wanted to give him a shout-out because he's always been good to me, he's helped me adapt to Madrid, and now it's great to help Madrid win games."He continued:
"Today I wanted to share that with him. I have a very good relationship with him, he’s my friend now, and I send my best wishes to him and all Madrid fans, and a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It's a special day because it's [also] my birthday. I’ve always said since I was little that it's a dream to play a professional match on my birthday, and even more so for my dream team. The goal was to finish the year with a win."Cristiano Ronaldo was quick to respond to Kylian Mbappe, as he shared some emojis in an Instagram comment under the Frenchman's post. It remains to be seen if Mbappe can continue to match Ronaldo's legacy at Real Madrid.
