"I made it too hard on all of us" - Steph Curry Bluntly Acknowledges Leadership Lapse as Warriors Falter Away from Home

Steph Curry is blaming himself after the Golden State Warriors lost to the Indiana Pacers on Saturday. It was a winnable game for the Warriors, especially when they were up 10 points midway through the fourth quarter. The Pacers were also missing a lot of key players due to injury.

Speaking to reporters after the Warriors' 114-109 loss, Curry was not happy with his leadership and lack of energy late in the fourth quarter. They let the Pacers back in, which they paid dearly for. They could have beaten the Giannis Antetokounmpo-less Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday as well, but they were lackluster late in the game.

"There are parts of the game where I made it too hard on all of us," Curry said, according to Sam Gordon of the San Francisco Chronicle. "With not getting organized, bad possessions, a little lack of energy. You give a team like that life... They have enough talent where you saw they can make shots down the stretch."

Steph Curry finished the game with 24 points and two assists, but he also had five turnovers, including one in the fourth quarter when the Golden State Warriors were staving off the Indiana Pacers' comeback. Curry had six points in the final period, but he missed five shots, as well as one crucial free throw.

In addition to their lapses on offense, the Warriors' defense was lackadaisical and just let the Pacers get back into the game. They allowed 31 points and six rebounds to Aaron Nesmith, while Quenton Jackson, a third-year player with 40 games under his belt, dropped 25 points, six rebounds, 10 assists and three steals.

The Warriors were on a two-game road trip, which started on Thursday in Milwaukee. They were up against a Bucks team without Giannis Antetokounmpo, but they let former Warriors guard Ryan Rollins get his revenge game against them. He put up 32 points, three rebounds and eight assists.

The Golden State Warriors will have two days off before their next game. Steph Curry and company are back at home on Tuesday to welcome Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns to the Chase Center. They have a shot at redeeming themselves against a team with a 2-4 record.

Golden State was off to a flying start, but their old habits from last season are already creeping up early in the campaign. They have too much experience to lose close games in a very loaded Western Conference, with seedings possibly decided by just a game or two.
