To the naked eye, things appear to have gone slightly awry for Cam Ward in Year No. 2.

The Titans hurler came to Music City with hopes of resurrecting a long-dormant franchise. The wins haven't quite materialized in the way Ward and Co. would have hoped so far. Tennessee is off to a winless start to the season, a record that got that much worse with a 24-18 loss to the Ravens in Week 4.

Ward was the subject of intense scrutiny in the hours after the final whistle blew. Here's a look at why he proved such a controversial figure in the game's aftermath — as well as why onlookers' frustrations might be a tad unfair.

Ward didn't appear to be in the most charitable mood with his time after strolling onto the podium. He was caught on hot mic lamenting the fact that he had to speak with media postgame, reiterating multiple times that those who pooled into the press room only had three minutes to speak with him.

"They got three minutes, bro," Ward said. "I'm gonna walk out."

The @Titans livestream caught Cam Ward at the podium before the media had finished with other players in the open locker room. An impatient Ward threatened to walkout if he had to wait longer than three minutes and tapped his fingers on the podium. Ward is 3-18 as a starter https://t.co/FiJPM4L9JI

Ward's comments immediately made him a target on social media, with many users pointing to his dismal 3-18 record as a starter as an indication that perhaps he should have been more gracious with reporters.

Some pointed out that it's understandable why Ward would want to finish his media obligations as quickly as possible. There was also the suggestion among some that Ward's tone was misrepresented.

Is is weird that I fully see his point and completely take his side on that???

Veteran reporter Paul Kuharsky offered a refreshing view of Ward's interaction with media postgame, saying that it was more a reflection of the tardiness displayed by some of the journalists that attended Sunday's game than some indictment on Ward's character.

"He was fine," Kuharsky said. "I came into the presser late, I didn't know how many questions were asked or how many were there long. But if you make a guy wait a long time for a question, his PR people are saying 'OK, thanks.' He didn't do anything wrong today.

"You don't be a judge of if a guy stays long enough at a press conference or not. If we're done, that's on us, not on him."

Ultimately, the blowback from Ward's presser appears to be exacerbated by Tennessee's lack of success since he joined its ranks. The former No. 1 pick looked solid enough in the Titans' defeat, amassing a season-high in yardage. If victories pile up in the weeks to come, it's likely that the noise surrounding Ward's viability as a starter will subside.
