Rob Rausch, you are so close to being $100,000 richer from The Traitors Season 4. Please, just do as I say.
**Spoilers ahead for the first 10 episodes of The Traitors Season 4, now streaming on Peacock**
If you’ve watched the latest episode of The Traitors, you know that the Love Island heartthrob and snake wrangler extraordinaire is closer than ever to coming out of this season victorious, although not fully unscathed, thanks to Natalie Anderson and Tara Lipinski. He’s not out of the woods just quite yet, as Tara, Johnny Weir, and Mark Ballas seem to have him at least on their suspect list going into the finale. That said, there is an easy heel turn here that could save Rob’s entire game and it involves playing his fellow Traitor.
Here’s the deal: Kristen Kish (may her murdered soul rest in peace) was throwing around Eric’s name mere hours before her murder, only for Rob to proclaim that he could not see Eric being a Traitor and opt to redirect him toward Natalie. Now, Rob, it’s time to inconspicuously jump back on the Eric train.
One thing everyone seems to agree on is that Eric is very quiet and has only gotten quieter in recent days, not saying a single word at the most recent roundtable where Natalie was eliminated. His silence the week before is what made Kristen feel suspicious in the first place and then he wasn’t even able to talk himself out of a corner during his conversation with her. I fear that the writing is on the wall here for Eric.
If Rob can covertly move through the cast and get people to see that Eric is a Traitor, he might still have a chance of pulling out a win. Remember, next week’s circle of truth ceremony will not force the players who are voted out to reveal their role in the game, so if Rob could theoretically convince Maura and Mark — although I fully believe one of these two is being murdered at the start of the next episode, more likely Mark than Maura — that Eric is a Traitor, he could sell them on Eric being the final Traitor or a pawn for someone else in the game.
PEACOCKA short aside, really, I think Eric and Rob would be smart to take out Johnny or Tara seeing as they will go to the ends of the earth together and you’re gambling with two votes there, but I do see the merit in losing Mark or Maura. Mark is able to be objective enough to have doubt as the final circle of truth and try to vote out Rob, but Maura is so blindly faithful to Rob that losing her in this game would genuinely throw the others off the scent. Truth be told, there are mostly upsides to any of the four remaining Faithfuls going home so not a terrible spot for Rob and Eric to be in.
I’m not saying that Rob can only win if he sacrifices Eric, but these Faithfuls are not blind. They may be easily confused, but they know there is at least one Traitor left in the mix. As of the end of Episode 10, Rob’s name is on people’s tongues and he needs to activate the same way that he has this entire game. At this point, no one is believing that Tara is a Traitor — those tears for tossing out Natalie were legit and shockingly heartfelt — and Johnny is staying right by her side no matter what.
Johnny could possibly be a Traitor, especially considering how often he’s been wrong and how bad he has been at this game, but again, Tara would go to the end of the game swearing he’s not so either they’re both losing or they’re both winning. Now, if they kill Tara and then frame Johnny as one of the last Traitors, that could also work, but I truly don’t see any way in which this group of players believes Johnny would kill Tara, let alone so close to the end.
Photo: PeacockUnfortunately for Rob, I think the only way out is through and that is by losing his one and only final ally in the turret. He’s got to get serious about making Eric out to be the big bad Traitor and work his butt off to make sure that Eric doesn’t get wind and try to retaliate. If Mark really is the one they murdered, there’s even more leverage for him to put suspicion on Eric.
Rob, hear my words clearly, plant the seed of doubt with Eric, make it seem like it was Kristen and Mark getting wise, and then seal the deal for yourself. You can win it all.
