I don't know where to start. Our actual guest checked in this afternoon. A couple hours later everything hit the fan.

  • 03

The girl whose reservation I had canceled for the insane service cat situation made good on her threat.

  • 04

Showed up to the property, repeatedly ringing the doorbell and pounding on the door. Our guest eventually answered.

  • Normally, we're happy on any occasion we get to see a cat. However, if the owner of said cat screams in our face, it kind of ruins the moment. We're not sure we would be scared, but it would certainly be unpleasant. That's not something you want to expurrience when expecting a calm, relaxing stay at your Airbnb.

Guest obviously had no idea what was going on and told the cat girl that she had rented the home.

  • 08

Cat girl then tried to force her way past the guest into the home. Guest stopped her.

  • 09

A bunch of other yelling happened. Cat girl stood on the porch yelling long enough that a neighbor called me (it went to voicemail).

  • 10

She was yelling something about the police and her cat. Eventually she left. Shortly after, the guest reached out to me and informed me of all this.

  • 11

She decided she didn't feel safe and requested to cancel the reservation. Can't wait for this review.

DeliciousPassion3736 I do understand the other guests. I would try to talk to them but in the end grant them the refund

Flaky-Score-1866 Was that your service cat post a week ago? That shit was funny. Sorry this happened to you and your guest.

  • 15

jayteegee47 Service cats? That's a stitch! I'm a lifelong cat lover, but c'mon, cats are there to be served, not to serve!

  • We don't doubt that cats can be of service to people. But, that service might be pawsitively unreliable. And the amount of training it would take to make one cat a “service cat” doesn't seem like a good investment. Let's leave it to the doggos.

quixotichance airbnb should fund the cancellation + pay damages, they failed to control one of their platform users who accosted other platform users (you + guest) you should also make a police complaint against the crazy woman and seek damages

Lefthandlannister13 I cannot believe the audacity some people have. To demand that their fake service cat (only dogs and miniature horses can be service animals in the US) be provided with a litter box, litter, and expensive wet and dry food at the Air BnB provider's expense is outrageous. How do people reach adulthood with such bizarre thinking and behavior. My flabbers are gasted

duraspen Unverified There are no legally recognized "service cats," so you are not obligated to accept one under any housing or accommodation law. I would recommend escalating the issue with Airbnb and requesting that they cover the refund issued to this guest.

  • 19

You should also file a police report-if you're fortunate, the police may even speak with your neighbor to confirm what they saw. Make sure to explain that you are concerned this woman may return or repeat the behavior, and consider requesting a restraining order if appropriate.

  • 20

Having a police report and/or restraining order on record will significantly strengthen your case with Airbnb for reimbursement of the refund and protection against any future incidents involving this guest. Good luck; the whole thing is so Jerry Springer awful.

2BBIZY Unverified In previous posts, you mentioned your worry if she showed up. I would have been on high alert and answered any calls during the true booking guest's stay. As soon as neighbor called, I would have been on the way asking the neighbor to call the police, then call myself. I would have liked to be present to reassure the current guest and make amends. I would also be thanking that neighbor for calling.

Expensive_Doubt5487 Unverified Someone should have called the police when she went to the house. I hope Airbnb will support you. I feel bad for the legitimate guest as well.

Ranger_... Property Manager I have seen the rainbow of guests during these few years. Usually the most problematic ones are the demanding ones. Yes you can improve from their request but there's also the nightmare ones.

Recently I had this guest and pregger wife that was "Woah this apartment is dusty, you sure cleaners came?" And my cleaning team was close by and I asked them to divert to clean that unit. Cleaning team said he was pointing things here and there. Fine apologise and move on.

They checked out and.....the mess they left....if I can post a single picture here.. my god. They are one of the most messiest guest I've had. Thankfully no irremovable stains.
