A former AEW star has shared some interesting views on CM Punk's backstage conduct in the Tony Khan-led promotion. The talent in question, Bobby Fish, himself used to work in All Elite Wrestling until he was released in 2022.

The Best in The World was fired by AEW in 2023 after his backstage brawl with Jack Perry at that year's All In : London - an incident that took place almost a year since Punk's involvement in another scuffle with The Elite following his incendiary press scrum remarks after All Out 2022. Soon after being let go by All Elite Wrestling, the Chicago-native returned to WWE, where he is currently the reigning World Heavyweight Champion on the RAW brand.

Former AEW star Bobby Fish recently opened up on CM Punk's All Elite Wrestling stint during his recent interview with TMZ's Inside The Ring. The former Undisputed Elite member claimed that The Straight-Edge Superstar had his own locker-room, a fact that seemingly made him appear to be at some remove from his peers.

“He never appeared to me to be part of the locker room. I mean, one of the things that—he had his own locker room. So like, I think when you do that… Sting had his own locker room too, so let me not be cherry-picking here. But Sting is Sting. Period... I don’t know that there was any real locker room leader. I mean, it was a unique locker room. Sting is Sting, obviously... If anything, [Samoa] Joe was the locker room leader to me. If Joe had something to say, I was f*cking listening.”

Fish also alluded to a backstage issue involving him and Dax Harwood of FTR, into which Punk supposedly tried to insert himself. He furthermore seemingly accused Punk of "tattling" on him to Tony Khan, presumably regarding the same issue.

“Before I’m a pro wrestler—before I’m the guy signing checks to win or lose—I’m somebody’s father, I was somebody’s husband. That all comes first. If we’ve got differences, we talk face to face. If it has to go to the parking lot, it can. But come on—I’m somebody’s father. I don’t need that. But what I definitely don’t need is you going to the principal’s office... Phil, you tattled on me. I get to the back, and you’re already in Tony Khan’s ear. Then you both—not just him—you both walk away from me and each other when I approach. There’s nothing man about that.” [H/T - Ringside News]

Bobby Fish on kicking out of CM Punk's finisher during their AEW match

Much of the speculations surrounding Bobby Fish's supposed beef with CM Punk stems from the former NXT superstar seemingly kicking out of the latter's finisher, the Go To Sleep, at the end of their AEW Dynamite match on October 27, 2021. Fish addressed the topic recently on his Youtube channel, claiming that the kick-out was an unintentional move on his part. He also seemed to suggest that it happened due to a misunderstanding between him and his opponent, stating:

“In the moment of the pin, he squeezed my arm—or my leg, or… I don’t, to be honest, it was so long ago I don’t remember exactly what it was. But it’s what we call in the industry ‘the office’ or ‘the Iggy.’ You generally do it to get someone’s attention. There wasn’t a lot of time to think about this. It was ‘do or don’t do,’ and I did — and what I did was kick out.” said Fish [H/T: Ringside News]

Bobby Fish parted ways with AEW in 2022 after the company elected to not renew his contract.
