How to watch the WNBA Draft lottery today: Time, TV channel, schedule, live streams, format, odds for 2024 event

With a historic 2024 season in the books, WNBA front offices will now turn their attention toward the WNBA Draft lottery.

After landing the No. 1 pick in each of the last two lottery drawings and selecting Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever reached the postseason and moved down the draft board. This year, there are three teams in contention for the top pick: the Los Angeles Sparks, Dallas Wings and Washington Mystics. (The Chicago Sky are also a lottery team, but the Wings own the right to swap picks with the Sky.)

This lottery drawing is essentially viewed as the Paige Bueckers sweepstakes. The UConn guard is already off to a terrific start in her senior season, and she has the potential to be a franchise-changing superstar.

Fans can watch the WNBA Draft lottery on ESPN following the conclusion of the TCU vs. North Carolina State women's basketball game. The event will also be available to stream on Sling.

WNBA Draft lottery start time

• Date: Sunday, Nov. 17
• Time: 5 p.m. ET

The results of the WNBA Draft lottery will be revealed at 5 p.m. ET on Sunday, Nov. 17. The 2025 WNBA Draft will be held on Monday, April 14.

How does the WNBA Draft lottery work?

Lottery odds are based on the combined 2023 and 2024 regular season records of the four teams that did not make the 2024 playoffs. Here is the breakdown of the process, per WNBA.com:

In the drawing, 14 balls numbered 1-14 will be placed in a lottery machine and mixed. Four balls will be drawn to determine a four-digit combination. The team assigned that four-ball combination will receive the No. 1 pick. The four balls will then be placed back into the machine and the process will be repeated to determine the second pick. The team with the lowest cumulative two-year record whose numerical combinations do not come up in the first two four-ball combinations will select third and the remaining team will select fourth.
