A deciding Game 3 in the Mississippi High School Activities Association high school softball finals is set for Friday evening.

Booneville (30-4) will take on Enterprise-Clarke (26-11) in a winner-take-all game to determine the Class 3A state champion in Hattiesburg on the University of Southern Mississippi campus.

Enterprise-Clarke took the opening game on Tuesday, 1-0, which wasn’t decided until the top of the eighth inning. Lanie Addkison, which started the inning on second base due to the international tie-breaker rule, went to third on a wild pitch and then another wild pitch brought her home.

Pitcher Macey Dearman then made that lead stand with a three-hit shutout, throwing 112 pitches in the effort. She also struck out 10.

Despite the loss, Booneville pitcher Olivia Garrett struck out 20 batters and gave up just two hits over eight innings.

But Garrett and the Blue Devils were on the winning side in Game 2 on Wednesday, as Booneville evened the series with a 6-0 run. Garrett got a complete-game shutout and gave up six hits while striking out 10, and also went 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBIs, including a solo home run in the fourth.

Championship series games continue through Saturday at USM. There will be at least two Game 3's on Saturday, as George County faces Neshoba Central for the 6A title, while Stringer takes on Myrtle for the Class 1A championship.
