Berlin Marathon 2025 start time
The Berlin Marathon elite races are scheduled to start at 9:15 a.m. CEST on Sunday, September 21. This translates to 3:15 a.m. ET and 12:15 a.m. PT on Sunday, September 21.

Berlin Marathon 2025 prize money, purse for winner
The BMW Berlin Marathon offers a prize pool of €280,000 (approx. US $306,000), with both the men’s and women’s winners set to claim €30,000 ($32,800) each. Second and third place finishers receive €15,000 ($16,400) and €10,000 ($10,900).
On top of that, a €50,000 ($54,700) world record bonus is on the line, with €30,000 (US $32,800) also available for breaking 2:02:30 on the men’s side or 2:18:00 on the women’s. Time bonuses are not cumulative, and only the race winners are eligible for them, meaning a champion could walk away with €80,000 (US $87,500) for a record-breaking run.
Berlin Marathon 2025 route
The BMW Berlin Marathon is famed for its flat course, making it the fastest of the Abbott World Marathon Majors. The 42.195 km route begins on Straße des 17. Juni between the Brandenburg Gate and the “Kleiner Stern,” winds past landmarks such as the Reichstag and Victory Column, and culminates with the iconic finish through the Brandenburg Gate itself.
While the official 2025 course map is yet to be released, runners can expect the same fast, scenic loop through the heart of Berlin, with details available on the event’s official website.
