The first Zuffa Boxing event takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on January 23. The prelims start at 6 p.m. ET, while the main card starts at 9 p.m. ET. The main event should start around 11:30 p.m. ET, depending on how long the undercard fights last.
A six-time Irish champion and a European gold medalist, Walsh (15-0) has become a special pet project of Dana White’s. The Cork-born fighter fought in front of a worldwide audience when he beat Fernando Vargas on the Canelo Alvarez-Terence Crawford undercard.
It’s a massive opportunity for the 24-year-old, as he’s headlining an event for what could be a game-changing promotion.
A two-time Mexican National Olympiad silver medalist, Ocampo (38-3) lost against Errol Spence Jr. in 2018 for the IBF welterweight title. He went on a twelve-fight win streak before losing against Sebastian Fundora and Tim Tszyu for interim super welterweight gold.
On a three-fight win streak, the Mexican, with 26 wins via knockout, is ready to halt Walsh’s momentum before he could potentially become a major name in the sport.
