How to decide on World Cup rooting options for the disgruntled U.S. soccer fan

I made my lone trip to the Freedom Tower a little more than nine years ago, speeding up to the 102nd floor to attend a press conference where the U.S. announced its bid to co-host the 2026 World Cup.

And it has been worth the wait.

If the 1994 World Cup essentially introduced soccer to mainstream America, the 2026 event has served as a celebration of a sport that may now be more popular than America’s pastime.

If you weren’t already hooked, the sport has made the best possible pitch in the past month.
