How Seahawks QB Sam Darnold can earn $500,000 in NFC Championship

The Seattle Seahawks and Sam Darnold are going up against a strong Los Angeles Rams defense in the NFC Championship for a chance to play in the Super Bowl.

It's a massive game, and for Darnold, it's more than just trying to get his team to the Super Bowl. He's trying to dispel the speculation that he struggles against the Rams, and in turn, also earn some extra money.

As Spotrac on Twitter/x posted, Darnold has a chance to earn $500,000 against the Rams Sunday night. It's a simple path for Darnold; all he needs to do is get the win, and the money is his.

How Sam Darnold can earn $500K vs. Rams

Currently, Darnold's 2025 season has already netted the QB $2.5 million in incentives. But, "A win today against the Rams adds another $500,000 to that," Spotrac explained.

Darnold has had a great debut season with the Seahawks, and a win over the Rams would only further cement one of the greatest turnarounds in NFL history from his New York Jets days.

He's 28 years old and is under contract for two more years at $63 million. That's not a small amount by any means, but he could add to that total in a major way with a win over the Rams in the NFC Championship.

Not only would he earn the $500,000 for the win in the NFC Championship, but he would also open the door for a big extension from the Seahawks front office.

And if Darnold could win the Super Bowl, especially if he plays well en route to such an outcome, the Seahawks would be even more inclined to raise his current deal, securing him further into the future.

This Seahawks-Rams NFC Championship game is going to be a great one, and a win for Seattle will add an extra $500,000 to Darnold's pockets this season.
