When Did Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce's Wedding Invites Really Go Out to Guests? The Truth
Taylor Swift made sure her first-glance feelin' was on New York time.
A week after the Grammy winner married Travis Kelce in a star-studded wedding at Madison Square Garden, New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani revealed how much Swift spent to cover the costs of city resources.
"Taylor Swift has paid already the cost of the permit that was lodged, which was over $160,000 for that event and for the response to that event," he said during a July 10 press conference in response to a question about the couple reimbursing the city for police overtime, "and that was a permit that was finalized in just the days before the event itself."
Indeed, less than a week before the extravagant wedding festivities, it was confirmed the New York Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment filed a special event permit from the evening of June 28 to the evening of July 4 on the city blocks where MSG is located.
In fact, Mamdani himself previously acknowledged the rumors that Swift, 36, and Kelce, also 36, were set to tie the knot at the venue.
"We are the biggest city in the country," the politician told reporters June 15, per Page Six, while sharing the city’s preparedness for the 2026 World Cup. "We are used to big events, and we are incredibly excited for this one."
He explained, “We know it coincides with the Knicks’ Finals run. We know it coincides with July 4, America 250, Taylor Swift’s wedding—all happening at the same time—and we are so excited to welcome the world here."
Yet, before the party and the ballgowns, Swift and Kelce showed their beautiful, magic love for New York by donating $26 million to various U.S. charitable organizations, including many local to the Big Apple, such as New York Cares, City Harvest New York City and Food Bank for NYC.
The next day, 1,000 of the couple's family and friends descended upon Madison Square Garden for the "Opalite" singer and Kansas City Chiefs tight end's lavish wedding ceremony.

And the nuptials turned out to be an enchanting affair. After all, the wedding proved Swift is a mastermind as guests revealed how the sports and concert venue was transformed into something out of a fairytale.
“The ceremony was great, moving. Adam Sandler, funny and touching,” Good Morning America’s George Stephanopoulos shared in a statement to ABC News July 4. “Vows, everything you would hope for, real, vulnerable, serious and silly. Deeply loving. Who knew that a wedding in Madison Square Garden could be so intimate?”

Who was in Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding party?
While the rumors flew as to who from Swift’s squad would make it onto the altar with her, both the Grammy winner and her now-husband opted to skip the traditional wedding party. Instead, Swift had her brother Austin Swift act as her Man of Honor, while Kelce tapped his brother Jason Kelce to be his Best Man.
As for who was heard saying speak now or forever hold your peace? Adam Sandler stepped in to be the couple’s officiant. The comedian is, along with his family, a longtime Swiftie and has been a guest on the New Heights podcast. Who didn’t attend Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding?
Considering these nuptials simply hit different, it’s hard to believe any guest would decline on their RSVP. However, stars including Ryan Seacrest, Zoë’s fiancé (and Swift’s ex) Harry Styles and Swift’s former BFF Jaime King, whose son Leo Thames is one of Swift’s godchildren, had to skip the ceremony for their own reasons, emphasizing no bad blood.
Meanwhile, Garret “Jacknife” Lee—who co-produced Swift’s “The Last Time”—thought his invite was too good to be true. His wife Melissa Garner Lee revealed in an op-ed that her husband told her he’d received “a text” from Swift’s manager inviting the couple to her nuptials, but ignored it thinking it was spam.
Swift’s “Snow on the Beach” duet partner Lana Del Rey, for her part, also opted for a low-key weekend, skipping the nuptials in favor of hosting a friend’s birthday, which she confirmed on Instagram.
Among other stars who were formerly in Swift and Kelce’s inner circle but did not make their white veil occasion include Dianna Agron, Keleigh Sperry Teller and Miles Teller, as well as Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Although the stars were previously thick as thieves with Swift and Kelce, it appears a frost has arisen amid the friendships.
