The underdogs live to see another day.

In the first round of the NBA playoffs, both the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves won surprising statement series against heavily-favored opponents.

For Steph Curry’s No. 7-ranked Warriors, they came out on top in a grueling seven-game showdown with the second-seeded Houston Rockets. In the final contest, Curry sealed the victory with a 22-point effort, 14 of which came in the fourth quarter.

Anthony Edwards’ No. 6 Minnesota Timberwolves similarly upset their first-round foes, handily beating LeBron and Luka’s Lakers in five games.

And, now, after just a single day of rest for Golden State, the Warriors and Timberwolves will do battle in the Western Conference semifinals starting at Minnesota’s Target Center on Tuesday, May 6.

“I just know they’re going to bring the best out of us,” Curry, 37, said in a postgame interview “It’s gonna be a challenge starting on the road again. Thankfully, we got life. That’s all we wanted.”

If you want to be there, tickets are available for all seven hypothetical games.

At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find on tickets for any one home game at Minnesota’s Target Center was $157 including fees on Vivid Seats.

Fans hoping to cheer on the Warriors at San Francisco’s Chase Center can pick up tickets starting at $282 including fees.

About Warriors-Timberwolves series

This series will be the first time the Warriors and Timberwolves have ever met in the postseason.

Although Steph and Draymond’s club has advanced to the playoffs 11 times since 2013 (and won four championships in the process), these clubs have never squared off in a winner-takes-all series.

That being said, they did go toe-to-toe four times over the course of the 2024-25 season.

In their first matchup, way back on Dec. 6, the Timberwolves walked away with a 107-90 victory thanks to a 30-point, nine assist evening from Anthony Edwards.

Just two days later, the Warriors exacted revenge with a cutthroat 114-106 win. Curry netted 30 points and eight assists while Edwards chipped in 27 points for the Timberwolves.

The third contest looked a lot like the second; the Warriors secured a 113-103 dub. Curry dropped 31 and 10; while Edwards shared top scoring honors with sixth man Donte DiVincenzo.

Finally, Golden State closed the regular season series with a 116-115 squeaker on the road. Yes, Curry led the way once again with 31 points and eight assists this time.
