The Sacramento Kings and DeMar DeRozan have worked out a deal to allow him to become a free agent.
As the rest of the NBA lines up to consider the six-time All Star, the Miami Heat sure seem like a good fit.
DeRozen will turn 37 in August, and he's far from his peak as a player.
He is still a bucket getter, though, and Miami's backcourt is bad.
DeRozan had a partial guarantee on his contract for next season, but he and Sacramento worked on his release Monday to allow him to find a new home. Multiple contenders are expected to have interest in the veteran guard. https://t.co/MDy3g1WI13

DeRozan has averaged 21.1 points per game in his career, and he was still at 18.4 points per game last season.
The Heat could definitely use him.

Could Heat sign DeMar DeRozan?
The Heat will likely hold out for LeBron James first.
If they don't get the King, though, they could definitely consider DeRozan, with some of the same cap space that LeBron would've used.
The Heat are currently lined up to start Tim Hardaway Jr. as their 2-guard alongside Davion Mitchell.
DeRozan feels like he'd be an upgrade, although maybe not as a floor-spacer.
At this point, though, the Heat have entered into that stage of team-building where they surround Giannis and Bam with some veterans with strong pasts. DeRozan would fit that bill, and now he's available.
