How many picks do Detroit Lions have on Day 2 of 2025 NFL draft?

4 hours ago 1

The first night of the 2025 NFL draft is in the books and the Detroit Lions came away with a defensive lineman in Ohio State's Tyleik Williams. Now, the team will turn its attention to Day 2, where Detroit's search for an edge rusher continues.

The Lions did have a few options to address their need along the edge at No. 28 overall, as Marshall's Mike Green and Boston College's Donovan Ezeiruaku remained available in that spot.

However, clearly the Lions didn't think either one was worthy in that spot and we know general manager Brad Holmes doesn't draft by need alone. Taking Williams showed that Detroit felt he was the best player available.

"I think you can get in trouble chasing needs sometimes, and then you're depending on a rookie," Holmes earlier this month. "You do the best you can, but nobody has a crystal ball. So, it can be a tough world to live in."

While the Lions don't have an edge rusher yet, Friday is a new day and the team is going to have two opportunities to land one, barring a trade. Here's a look at where things stand with the Lions' Day 2 and 3 selections.

Lions remaining 2025 NFL draft picks

The Lions will first be on the board at No. 60 overall, and then they'll have to wait over 40 picks before being on the clock again in the third round at No. 102, which is the team's compensatory selection for the New York Jets hiring Aaron Glenn as head coach.

  • Round 2, Pick No. 60
  • Round 3, Pick No. 102 (comp pick)
  • Round 4, Pick No. 130
  • Round 6, Pick No. 196 (from TB)
  • Round 7, Pick No. 228 (from DAL)
  • Round 7, Pick No. 244

Lions biggest NFL draft needs

On top of needing an edge rusher, the Lions could also look to add to their offensive line, and more specifically at guard. Graham Glasgow is coming off a down season and there are concerns he's on the decline, and the Lions lost Kevin Zeitler in free agency and are looking at a competition between unproven players like Christian Mahogany and Kayode Awosika for Zeitler's spot.

Detroit's general manager shot down Jameson Williams trade rumors on Thursday night, but that doesn't mean the Lions couldn't use another receiver. Tim Patrick is only on a one-year contract, Kalif Raymond is in the final year of his deal and Williams will be a free agent in 2027 with the fifth-year option.
