How long is Lamar Jackson out? Hamstring injury timeline, return date, latest updates on Ravens QB

2 hours ago 3

Very few things have gone right for the Baltimore Ravens to begin the 2025 NFL season.

With injuries already piling up on Baltimore's defense, star quarterback Lamar Jackson exited a Week 4 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs with an apparent hamstring injury. Not only did Baltimore lose the game to fall to 1-3, but it also lost its franchise QB in the process.

Jackson remained on the sidelines after he was taken out, but there is an understandable level of concern around the team as it faces an uphill battle with a hobbled QB.

Here is what to know about Jackson's injury and whether it will cause him to miss any time outside of the reps he missed in Sunday's game.

What is Lamar Jackson's injury?

Jackson suffered a hamstring injury in the third quarter of Baltimore's game against Kansas City. The designation and severity of the injury have not been disclosed.

Jackson's injury came on the final play of the Ravens' offensive drive, but he was not on the field when the offense took back over. The team listed him as questionable to return, but Jackson did not go back in.

NFL WEEK 6:

How long is Lamar Jackson out?

Jackson could miss 2-3 weeks with the Week 4 hamstring injury, per a report from the Baltimore Sun on Tuesday, Sept. 30, though a Oct. 1 report from Ian Rapoport called the injury more "week to week."

After missing Week 5's loss to the Texans, Jackson has not yet practiced as of Thursday, Oct. 9, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. Baltimore hosts the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, Oct. 12.

Fortunately for Jackson and the Ravens, their bye week comes in Week 7.

Head coach Jim Harbaugh initially declined to comment on whether Jackson would have stayed in had the game been closer, but he said Monday that "there was no way [Jackson] could have gone back in the game.

Harbaugh's comments indicate the injury might be more than just a minor bump in the road. Josina Anderson reported in Week 5, that a source told her that Jackson isn't expected back until after Baltimore's Week 7 bye week.

#Ravens QB Lamar Jackson (hamstring) is not currently expected to play this Sunday vs the #Texans, nor next week vs the #Rams (outside of faster healing, which still can be deceptive). The bye week is after that. That’s a good safe window to help better ensure the hamstring issue… pic.twitter.com/G2KCwmeSNh

On Friday before the Ravens' Week 6 matchup vs. the Los Angeles Rams, Schefter reported that Jackson once again was not at practice, and the QB was eventually ruled out. While Cooper Rush is in line to start again in Week 6, former Ravens Pro Bowler Tyler Huntley was also activated from their practice squad as a backup.

Once again, no Lamar Jackson at today’s practice, putting Cooper Rush in line to start Sunday vs. the Rams.
