How Illinois' Andrej Stojakovic is related to one of NBA's best shooters ever, Peja Stojakovic

2 hours ago 2

Andrej Stojakovic is already a well-traveled college basketball player.

After spending time on the west coast at both Stanford and Cal, Stojakovic has ventured to the Midwest this season to play for Illinois.

The Fighting Illini are happy to have him. He's one of their most gifted scorers as they try to put together a run in March Madness to journey further into the NCAA Tournament.

It makes sense that Stojakovic can put the ball in the basket. After all, his father was quite good at that back in his day.

Is Andrej Stojakovic related to Peja?

Andrej Stojakovic is the son of long-time NBA sharpshooter Peja Stojakovic.

Andrej's father finished as high as fourth in the NBA MVP voting, when in 2003-04 he averaged 24.2 points per game and shot 43.3 percent from 3-point range and 92.7 percent at the foul line.

The Serbian-born Peja went on to appear in games for the Indiana Pacers, New Orleans Hornets, Toronto Raptors and the Mavericks. Dallas was Peja's last stop, in 2010-11, and he averaged 8.6 points per game.

Andrej is Peja's oldest of three sons.

Ironically, Andrej didn't inherit the outside shooting. He's just a 30.3% 3-point shooter in his college basketball career.

But as an overall scorer, Andrej has a lot of talent, and it has brought the Stojakovic name back into the spotlight.
