Exclusive: George Clooney Admits He and Amal Clooney Don’t Always “Get It Right” As Parents
George Clooney is raising his descendants the best way he knows how.
The Oscar winner offered insight into how he and wife Amal Clooney juggle their busy careers with raising their 8-year-old twins Alexander and Ella.
“You try to pace it so that I'm doing it and then she's home and then she goes and I'm home,” George told E! News’ Will Marfuggi at the Los Angeles premiere of his movie Jay Kelly Nov. 11. “We try to mix it up a little bit.”
But the 64-year-old pointed out that trying to strike the perfect balance between parenting and professional obligations is a fool’s errand.
“You’re never gonna get it all right—no one does,” he continued, “but you gotta go to work too, so you do the best you can.”
Having a supportive partner certainly helps, as Amal—who married the Ocean’s Eleven star in 2014—previously credited her husband for enabling her to continue her work as a human rights lawyer while raising young kids.
“I remember when I became a mom, which was obviously a new frontier,” she told Glamour magazine in July. “He was the first one to say, ‘I know you’ve got this speech at the Security Council. You have to go, I’ve got the kids, don’t worry about it.’”

The 47-year-old also noted that keeping their kids out of the public eye is an essential part of their parenting efforts.
“We do the best we can to minimize any impact on our children,” she explained. “We don’t put our children out there, we’ve never put their photo out there or anything like that.”
And while the Alexander and Ella are growing up out of the spotlight, they may have inherited their dad’s performing genes.
“They’re very funny kids, and they love to get up and sing,” George told E! News in September. “But I hope they do exactly what they want to do in life, and that’s all you can hope for.”
George and Amal aren’t the only celebrity parents who have welcomed sets of twins. To see more stars with double the love at home, keep reading.
