How Bulls drafting Caleb Wilson with 4th pick ends the Patrick Williams bust story

1 hour ago 3

The last time the Chicago Bulls held the No. 4 overall pick in the NBA Draft, they took Patrick Williams.

That has turned out to be one of the biggest bust selections in recent memory, and it has contributed to the Bulls' continued mediocrity.

This is a proud franchise, of course, one that wants better for itself going forward.

That brought Tuesday into the spotlight. The Bulls were picking fourth again.

What would they do?

Who did the Bulls draft?

The Bulls chose Caleb Wilson with the fourth overall pick.

Wilson is a bit like Williams, but on a souped-up level. He's much less likely to fail.

He's a high-flyer, a massive rebounder, an impactful and athletic defender.

Wilson's pick does raise the idea of getting rid of Williams, although he has a very tough contract to deal. At this point, though, any thought of reviving Williams' career is gone.

Wilson is going to join Matas Buzelis in the frontcourt and has a chance to put together a long career in Chicago.

The Bulls made the obvious pick after AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson and Cameron Boozer were off the board -- now it's up to Wilson to make it pay off.
