Milwaukee Brewers star pitcher Jacob Misiorowski is a strong candidate to start this year's All-Star Game of the National League.
The Athletic's Levi Weaver wrote Tuesday that the 24-year-old starting the Midsummer Classic "doesn't feel like a huge stretch."
Misiorowski is posting absurd strikeout numbers, adding 12 more in Sunday's start against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He leads the Majors with an average strikeout per nine innings of 14.06. It will be difficult, but Misiorowski will set a new All-Star Game record if he can maintain that strikeout pace.
"That’s where the second part of the prediction comes in. Looking back over every All-Star Game starting pitcher, the highest K/9 was Randy Johnson, who was at 13.7 K/9 when he started the 1999 All-Star Game," wrote Weaver.
Having your name mentioned in the same sentence as Johnson, widely considered the best left-handed starter of all-time, is no easy task.

"But even if Misiorowski doesn’t start the All-Star Game, he could still set a first-half record: Jacob deGrom’s 14.28 K/9 in 2021 was the highest first-half mark ever (just holding off Spencer Strider’s 14.27 in 2023)," Weaver added.
Either way, Misiorowski and his 103 mph fastball have a chance to make history. If he keeps punching tickets at this rate, there's no telling how many strikeouts he can end the year with.
