The Charlotte Hornets have done the unthinkable. Despite entering Thursday's game as the No. 11 seed in the Eastern Conference, the Charlotte Hornets defeated the Houston Rockets on the road by double-digits, giving them another signature win under head coach Charles Lee.
Kon Knueppel led the way for the Hornets, finishing with 24 points, four rebounds and two assists. Josh Green also starred off the bench, scoring a season-high 14 points on a perfect shooting night. Green finished 4-for-4 from the field, including 3-for-3 from downtown. He also added four steals and one block.
With the win, Charlotte improved to an eight-game win streak, their longest such streak in over 25 years, dating back to the 1999-2000 season.
Following the game, Knueppel spoke about Charlotte's process, trying to take things one step at a time. "Taking it game by game, not looking at the streak as a whole (...) I think that's the recipe for success."
"Playing a lot of games together, you get better and better at it (...) as we continue on in the season, we're gonna keep growing together and getting better."
With Chicago's loss to the Toronto Raptors, Charlotte has now moved into 10th place in the Eastern Conference, the final Play-In Tournament spot.
Additionally, Charlotte sits 1.5 games behind the Atlanta Hawks for ninth place. In the Hornets' next three games, they are scheduled to face Atlanta twice, giving them another opportunity to move ahead in the standings.
The season series between the two sides is currently split 1-1. Charlotte will face the Hawks away from home Saturday.
