Hornets' Kon Knueppel set a ridiculous three-point record that makes Steph Curry look average

1 hour ago 2

The Charlotte Hornets have quietly started to make progress this season, and although their record wouldn't show it, there are players to be excited about going forward.

One of those players is rookie Kon Knueppel, who has lived up to the hype of a top-4 pick.

He's had an impressive rookie campaign and is already setting NBA records with his accuracy from beyond the three-point arc.

He's been so great that players like Steph Curry, Luka Doncic and Damian Lillard don't come anywhere close to Knueppel in this three-point stat.

What history has Kon Knueppel made already in his rookie season?

Knueppel has made 137 3P through 40 career games, which is the most by any player through their first 40 career games (via @HornetsReddit).

The next closest player is Lauri Markkanen, who made 98 3P through his first 40 games of his career, but that is nowhere close to the incredible mark of Knueppel's.

Other notable players are in the top 10 of this stat, such as Luka Doncic (96 3P) and Damian Lillard (92 3P). Steph Curry had just 61 3P in that stretch.

Knueppel is putting up 8.0 3PA, but has been efficient, with a 42.8 3P% this season.

At Knueppel's current three-point rate (3.4 3P), he can claim the rookie season record in 21 more games played.

He's barely missed any games this season, so if he plays 40/41 games to finish the season (played 40/41 in the first half), then he would finish the year with around 272 3P.

That would put him in the top-25 for 3P in any season, which would put him next to Steph Curry, James Harden, Anthony Edwards, Donte DiVincenzo, Malik Beasley, Klay Thompson, Paul George, Buddy Hield, Damian Lillard and Luka Doncic.
