Hilary Duff revealed she and her husband, Matthew Koma, only have one big fight a year.
The “Lizzie McGuire” alum spoke about working with her husband on her latest album, “Luck… or Something,” and said they “literally never fight” — but when they do, it’s intense.
“We have one drag-out fight once a year,” she said in an interview with Dakota Fanning for an Interview magazine article published Monday.
“He actually brought it up the other day. He was like, ‘We haven’t had a fight in such a long time,'” she continued. “I’m like, ‘Are you ready?'”
The singer then detailed their last blowout fight which took place during the devastating Los Angeles fires last year.
“Last time I threw his phone in a Bougainvillea bush and it felt so good … We had been displaced, we had all the f–king kids, and we just needed to have it out,” Duff, 38, explained.
“But we don’t usually fight, and making the record — I don’t speak this language. He makes music all day, every day since he was 15 years old. So I’m like, ‘That sound, what is that? Get that out of here.’”
Although the couple rarely has any outbursts, Duff did reveal her constant internal struggle — worrying that Koma will leave her for another woman.
“I always think Matt’s going to leave me for some coolio indie songwriter that he works with,” she told Rolling Stone in a Feb. 19 interview, adding that it’s a recurring dream she has.

She even addressed the insecurity in her new song “Holiday Party,” in which she laments, “In my head you live another life / Where you f–k all my friends / And wish someone else could’ve been your wife.”
However, Koma, who was part of the interview, called his wife’s fear “insane.”
“But also very real,” the songwriter, also 38, added. “Those are real things to get hung up on emotionally.”
Duff and Koma tied the knot in 2019 in an intimate ceremony at their home in LA before welcoming daughters Banks, 7, Mae, 4, and Townes, 20 months.
The “Younger” actress is also also mom to son Luca, 13, whom she shares with ex-husband Mike Comrie. She and Comrie were married in August 2010 and separated in January 2014.
After taking a 10-year music hiatus, Duff came back with a new album that explores several personal topics, including her estrangement from sister Haylie Duff and her complicated relationship with her dad.
