Hilary Duff addressed “family drama” after years of fans suspecting she and sister Haylie have been feuding.
While speaking to Rolling Stone about her new music, Hilary admitted she finally feels “ready to fill in the blanks and share with people and connect with them on the level of now.”
She further explained that she and her fans “have gone through a lot of the same things whether that’s complicated relationships, anxiety, raising kids, divorces, trying to find yourself in adulthood, family drama…”
“Finally I felt safe enough and comfortable in my own family to step outside and open that part of myself up again,” she said.
Hilary’s new interview comes after years of sibling rivalry rumors. Not only have Hilary, 38, and Haylie, 40 — who were once incredibly close — not been photographed together in years, but they do not appear to like or comment on each other’s social media posts.
Thus far, Haylie hasn’t even posted anything about Hilary’s new song.
Furthermore, they have not been seen together in public since March 2019, when they were spotted shopping in Los Angeles, Calif.
It’s unclear why the sisters are allegedly feuding, but DeuxMoi previously claimed they had a fight over Hilary’s husband, Matthew Koma, and how he doesn’t get along with Haylie or her fiancé, Matthew Rosenberg.
Fans on Reddit have also discussed various theories, and alleged Haylie wasn’t at Hilary and Koma’s 2019 wedding. Though, various reports claimed at the time that Haylie did attend the ceremony.
Reps for Hilary and Haylie didn’t immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
Duff released “Mature” — her first single in 10 years — on Friday. In her interview with Rolling Stone, she described the song as “self-talking to my younger self about an experience that we had.”

She further said the track was reflecting on the experience “and being okay with it and having a little tongue-in-cheek moment with yourself and accepting your past and being good with where you landed.”
In September, Duff revealed that she signed with Atlantic Records and has a docuseries — which will feature interviews, performances and videos from her personal archive — on the way.
