The Baldwins: Hilaria and Alec Baldwin Share Glimpse Into Chaotic Home Life With 8 Kids

Hilaria Baldwin is getting candid about her thoughts on death.

She recently opened up about how she takes her kids to cemeteries as a learning experience.

"I bring my kids to cemeteries a lot," she told Oliver Hudson on the June 16 episode of the Sibling Revelry podcast. "We spend time in cemeteries and you know, everything from like the history of it, and just also acknowledging, this is part of life."

She added that she also wants her and husband Alec Baldwin’s children—Carmen, 11, Rafael, 10 Leonardo, 8, Romeo, 7, Eduardo, 4, María Lucía, 4, and Ilaria, 2—to have an understanding of what it means to die when she passes.

"There's a tremendous amount of peace there as well," she explained, "not being afraid, not of death, but of people who have died."

She added, "I don't want anyone to be afraid of me when I die. So I try to have that kind of connection with them."

And death is something Hilaria has though about a lot since becoming a mom, especially. As she noted, "Once you become a parent, I think that how fragile life can be, it comes into my fears all the time."

Indeed, a lot has changed since Hilaria became a parent. When the couple met in 2011, Alec—who is also dad to Irelyn, now 29, with ex-wife Kim Basinger—said they never could have expected all that was to come.

“I always joke with her and say, ‘You know where I should be right now, don’t you? We should be on Geffen’s yacht, drinking a cappuccino and reading a book, and having dinner with Spielberg or whatever,’” Alec told People in January. Despite the chaos, he noted, “I wouldn’t change anything."

Swept Away

Hilaria accompanied Alec to the Cannes Film Festival in 2012. "I've dated a lot of people since my divorce, and have thought a lot about what I wanted and what I wanted to do," he said. "I thought about it too much, I suppose. I wasn't really ready to take that chance and to act until I met Hilaria."
