(Bloomberg) — High Noon announced a recall of vodka seltzer drinks that it says were mislabeled as Celsius energy drinks, according to a posting on the US Food and Drug Administration’s website.

“Consumption of the liquid in these cans will result in unintentional alcohol ingestion,” the company said. No illnesses or adverse events have been reported for this recall to date. High Noon doesn’t own Celsius energy drinks.

High Noon, a brand of E&J Gallo Winery, recalled its Beach Variety 12-packs after some Celsius Astro Vibe sparkling blue razz cans were accidentally filled with High Noon vodka seltzer. The packs were sent to stores in Florida, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Virginia, and Wisconsin between July 21 and July 23.

A Gallo spokeswoman said in an email that the voluntary recall stemmed from “a labeling error from our can supplier,” and that it was working with the FDA, retailers and distributors to proactively manage the recall.

She declined to provide the name of the packaging supplier.

Celsius Holdings Inc. said in a statement that the company was not involved in the production, filling, or distribution of the affected cans and that the recall “does not involve any Celsius products, only aluminum cans bearing our artwork.”

Walmart Inc. said in a statement that it promptly notified its impacted stores in Florida, Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, and Wisconsin to remove it from shelves and prevent further sales. It added that customers who bought the cans should discard them and visit any Walmart store for a full refund.

E&J Gallo, a closely held, family-run firm based in Modesto, California, built its business on namesake wine. It now offers mass-market wines like André and Barefoot, as well as spirits and ready-to-drink products.

It launched High Noon in 2019, marketing it as “the only hard seltzer on the market made with real vodka, real juice, only 100 calories, no sugar added and gluten-free.”

High Noon has been the top-selling spirit brand by volume in the US since 2022, according to Impact Databank.
