Here’s why Seth Rogen believes he’s ‘blacklisted’ from presenting at the Emmys again

Seth Rogen thinks this is the end of one Hollywood tradition.

The actor, 43, revealed he might know the reason why hasn’t been asked to present at the Emmys since 2021.

“I presented there, I think it was, four years ago at this point, and I have not been invited back,” Rogen recalled while on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Tuesday.

The “Studio” vet believes that his alleged ban stems from when he criticized the award ceremony’s indoor venue.

At the time, it was “the thick of COVID” and Rogen went off script while on live television.

“Let me start by saying there is way too many of us in this little room,” the “Knocked Up” alum began in his monologue before introducing the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category.

“What are we doing? They said this was outdoors! It’s not. They lied to us. We’re in a hermetically sealed tent right now! I would not have come to this. Why is there a roof? It’s more important that we have three chandeliers than that we make sure we don’t kill Eugene Levy tonight. That is what has been decided. This is insane. I went from wiping my groceries to having Paul Bettany sneeze in my face.”

However, while talking to Kimmel, 57, Rogen insisted, “It was true! They lied.”

But that didn’t stop the producers from scolding Rogen.

“They were outwardly pissed off at me afterwards, the producers, and I know they cycle through producers, but I’ve not been asked to return,” confessed the “Platonic” actor.

Kimmel, who hosted the Emmys in 2012, 2016, and 2020, teased that he has confirmed Rogen’s ban with the Television Academy.

“I checked today, because, you know, I’ve hosted the Emmys quite a few times, and you are, indeed, banned from presenting,” he said.

Rogen went on to tease that his bar is the same as Kimmel’s recent suspension from ABC.

“I’ve been blacklisted. I’m with you!” he joked. “I’m like you. They’re trying to silence me. You can’t win. You try to speak truth to power! You know!”

All jokes aside, Rogen mentioned that he does understand why the Emmys haven’t trusted him to present again.

“I get it,” he detailed. “I went very off-book and made them look bad. So, I get that.”

The Post reached out to the Emmys for comment.

Despite not presenting in a few years, Rogen swept at the 2025 Emmys, taking home four awards for the first season of the “Studio.”

The series, which he co-created and produced, won the award for Outstanding Comedy Series, with Rogen also winning for directing, writing, and lead performance.

This past year, the Emmy winner was pulling double duty with not one, but two hit Apple TV+ projects.

Along with playing Matt on the “Studio,” Rogen also portrays Will on “Platonic.”

“Going into Season 2, you know, Seth had just finished filming ‘The Studio,’” Rogen’s “Platonic” co-star, Luke Macfarlane exclusively told the Post in August.

The Hallmark star, 45, added, “It is this incredible, brilliant, beautiful show. That he was, by the way, working on while he was filming Season 1 of ‘Platonic.’ Which is also, just as an actor, an incredible sort of reminder that hard work can pay off.”

Macfarlane reminisced about how Rogen would juggle both roles on set.

“He was literally finishing scenes on ‘Platonic’ and going in his trailer and typing away,” continued Macfarlane. “So it’s delightful to come back and do a second season of the show. I think we all had a tremendous amount of time. It also feels like a lot of people that enjoy working together, and getting to work together again.”

Looking back at filming the second season, one memory in particular has stuck with the “Bros” vet.

“Seth really respects what everyone does,” Macfarlane detailed. “You know, Seth did an amazing thing once, actually. Somebody on set who kind of shouldn’t have said this told me to do something.”

He explained, “I was wearing a lav, a microphone, and I brought my hand to my lav, and I covered the lav in the scene. And somebody said something to me like, ‘Oh, don’t do that with your hand, you’ll cover your lav.’”

Rogen made sure there was no more stepping in where you shouldn’t.

“And Seth actually said to that person, ‘Don’t tell an actor what to do. That’s not your job,’” Macfarlane shared. “Just watching somebody look out for his fellow actors – that’s what he does.”

“He’s got integrity,” Macfarlane gushed. “He knows how to look out for his actors. He really cares about an actor feeling comfortable.”
