The San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers open a weekend series tonight, Sept. 18; the game is set to air exclusively on Apple TV.

As NL West teams, the Giants and Dodgers play each other 13 times every season, and going into this evening’s contest, only seven have gone down thus far. In exactly one week, the teams will meet again in San Francisco for their final three game stand of the season.

In April, the Giants won two of three against the Dodgers at home. One month later, they split a four-game series at Dodger Stadium.

Ahead of this NorCal/SoCal showdown, Dave Roberts’ boys in blue clinched the NL West after taking three of four from the Reds. With this playoff berth, the Dodgers tied the 1991-2005 Atlanta Braves for most consecutive years — 14 to be exact — advancing to the postseason.

San Francisco’s 64-89 season hasn’t been as successful under first-time MLB skipper Tony Vitello but they did take two of three from the Cardinals in their most recent series.
