Heated Rivalry Creator Asks Fans for “Space” Ahead of Season 2 Filming

Heated Rivalry's Hudson Williams Attempts to Burn Photos in Confrontation With Autograph Sellers

Heated Rivalry fans may be skating on thin ice.

As filming for season two of the hit hockey romance series begins, the show’s creator Jacob Tierney urged super fans of the book-to-TV adaptation to refrain from disrupting production.

“To our incredible fans and everyone who’s been sharing in the excitement for the show: Your support, enthusiasm, and kindness have meant the world to us,” Tierney wrote in an Aug. 4 statement shared to his production company Accent Aigu Entertainment as well as Heated Rivalry’s official Instagram accounts. “As we gear up for more Heated Rivalry, please help us in making it the best it can be.”

“If you happen to come across one of our filming locations, please give our cast and crew the space they need to do what they do best,” the statement added. “We promise it’ll be worth the wait! Your Heated Rivalry Family.”

Season one of the hit HBO show followed hockey stars Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie) as they engaged in a steamy yearslong romance while convincing hockey fans that their relationship extended no further than a tense, well, rivalry.

Recently, Tierney shared a glimpse into what season two of the show will entail

While speaking with Heated Rivalry author Rachel Reid at New York City for BookCon 2026, Tierney explained how he's flipping the 2022 sequel The Long Game—which is the sixth book in the Game Changers series—into season two, though some "parts" of her 2021 novel Role Model will also be added in.

And with new stories come new characters. Indeed, viewers will meet Troy Barrett, who joins the Ottawa Centaurs before developing a connection with Harris Drover, the hockey team's social media manager.

"There is an easy, facile way of looking at Role Model," Tierney said at the event, according to Entertainment Weekly. "It's very 'grumpy sunshine.' It's very 'apple orchard.' It can drift into things that you want, but Troy is a really damaged guy. And Troy is quite damaged on the show. I would say we're digging into that even harder."

But make no mistake, die-hard Heated Rivalry fans will still see Shane and Ilya’s romance take center stage. But considering both The Long Game and Role Model take place 10 years after that of Heated Rivalry, the couple will face all new challenges in their connection.

"What do you do after the rush of danger is gone and yet now you have to live in a relationship where you still aren't communicating properly, much as you would like to?" the showrunner explained. "You can say you love each other, but as adults know, there's so much more than that to make a relationship successful. And that is what they're learning."

Until Heated Rivalry season two makes its debut, keep reading for more exciting TV shows premiering soon.
