The Miami Heat have been a puzzling team this season because they had a lengthy winning streak just a couple of weeks ago. However, they are now in a rut with a five-game losing streak. It has been the story of the Heat's 2025-26 season, as they are always bouncing between constantly winning and constantly losing.
There is no in-between for this Heat team, which is disappointing because they are a talented bunch. As two of the most senior members of the Heat organization, the head coach Erik Spoelstra and longtime player Bam Adebayo are passionate about the team, which led to their disagreements.
Erik Spoelstra clears up his disagreements with Bam Adebayo
For the longest time, Spoelstra and Adebayo have been connected as a partnership. It has been a productive relationship since 2017, as Adebayo has been the starter for two runs to the NBA Finals. Unfortunately, the 2025-26 season has been a rough patch for most of the team.
They still have a strong relationship, but they do have some disagreements. That is natural among NBA players and their coaches, as they want to communicate the best course of action. In the Heat's game against the San Antonio Spurs, they were caught having a loud disagreement.

As a head coach, that is a good look for Spoelstra because everyone knows they love each other. However, having valid disagreements is a good approach to finding the direction for the team to take. Spoelstra subbed him out, which could be improved upon in future games.
"I love that about Bam. He and I were barking at each other. That’s why I love him, I think he loves me, but even if he doesn’t, I had to do what’s best for the team. I don’t want to just play him 24 straight minutes," Spoelstra said after the loss to the Spurs.
They both make valid points, but Spoelstra's decision is much more understandable because of the Heat's struggles with injuries. Adebayo is hungry to contribute, but he has to realize that Spoelstra was thinking of the bigger picture when he made that choice.
