It’s pretty hard for a 51-point loss to get even uglier when the game is over.
But fans and pundits alike have been sounding off on Grizzlies’ star Ja Morant for being seen laughing after the team’s embarrassing loss.
"I know the brother is an elite competitor," Stephan A. Smith said on ESPN’s First Take. "I know he's a star. But people don't want to see you laughing when you're getting your a-- kicked like that. You want to see somebody ticked off. Especially if you're a fan, because you're emotionally invested. And at that particular moment, it provides a question mark to you as to whether or not that cat's invested. You got vacation plans or something?"
Morant added 17 points, three rebounds, and four assists during the game — but considering the score, he really didn’t have any impact.
"You lost by 51," Smith said. "Y'all down 50, and you on the bench laughing? I don't want to see that. I don't think anyone in Memphis wants to see that."

— BricksCenter (@BricksCenter) April 20, 2025Morant and Marvin Bagley III were the only ones who scored in double figures — the Thunder, however, fired on all cylinders.
Smith also added that Morant was also smiling during the Grizzlies last playoff game. Morant has not made it past the second round of the NBA playoffs during his career.
Game two against the Thunder is on April 22.
“We’ll never play that bad again,” Morant said.
