A former AEW World Champion has not been seen on their live television for months due to their outside commitments. However, a recent update hinted at his potential return, sparking a range of interesting reactions from fans.
The aforementioned star, considered one of the four pillars of AEW, is Maxwell Jacob Friedman, popularly known as MJF. The Salt of the Earth dropped the CMLL World Heavyweight title to Mistico in September and then lost a singles bout to Mark Briscoe at All Out. He expressed his disappointment following the match and stated that he would not return until he found his real self and no longer saw a fraud in the mirror.
The angle was done to write off MJF from television, so that he could film his upcoming Hollywood project, 'Violent Night 2. According to a recent report, the production of the film is nearly complete, and MJF could return to All Elite Wrestling sooner rather than later, also being factored into their December creative plans.
This elicited numerous interesting reactions from fans on social media. Some fans believed that MJF would return to challenge and win the AEW World Championship at their December pay-per-view, Worlds End. However, another fan hoped for his comeback to happen sooner at the upcoming Full Gear 2025 event.

One fan made a bold statement that Tony Khan and his regime would waste his return and put him back in mid-card feuds. Another netizen said that it would be better for AEW if he were kept off television.
@WrestlePurists @FightfulSelect Only to be wasted again. His contract can’t end soon enough.
@WrestlePurists @FightfulSelect Nah keep him away for a little while longer. It has been fantastic without him on AEW TV.
Former WWE champion called AEW star MJF his favorite wrestler
MJF has made a huge impact as an All Elite Wrestling star. Former WWE Hardcore Champion Maven revealed himself to be a huge fan of The Salt of the Earth and called him his favorite wrestler. At the same time, he had an interesting pitch for MJF if ever signed with rival promotion, WWE.
“My favorite wrestler today is MJF, I think he’s just a genius. I think what he’s doing is legendary. If he ever gets a chance to go to WWE, I think he’ll be one of the best heels ever,” said Maven. With the rumors and speculations hinting at his return, it will surely be a loud pop when it actually happens.
