Mary Kay Cabot earlier revealed that Deshaun Watson will travel with the Cleveland Browns to help out Shedeur Sanders as they face the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12. The rookie quarterback is making his first NFL start, and he's getting all the help he needs from the team.
Sanders is getting the opportunity to start this week as Dillon Gabriel remains in concussion protocol. He had his NFL debut against the Baltimore Ravens last week after Gabriel left the game with an injury, but had a poor performance, completing 4 of 16 passes for 47 yards.
However, the Las Vegas game comes as an opportunity to redeem himself and lay a claim to the starting role. Shedeur Sanders started the season as the third-string quarterback behind Joe Flacco and Gabriel, but had slowly climbed up the ladder to get his starting opportunity.

Sanders was seen being mentored by Watson on the sideline during the game following an offensive drive by the Browns. The veteran quarterback had the NFL custom Microsoft Surface tablet in his hand and was giving the rookie a look while dishing out tactical instructions.
There've been a lot of reactions to this moment during the game among NFL fans. While a section of the fans is applauding the effort by Watson, others are referencing his message parlor scandal of 2022.
Here's a look at some of the reactions online:
@JosinaAnderson He’s just pointing out which massage parlors to go to.
@JosinaAnderson Is he giving him the top 5 places to get a massage ?
@JosinaAnderson Obviously showing him strip clubs and massage parlors.
@JosinaAnderson It’s the first time Watson traveled with the team but sure he did this with Gabriel too.
@JosinaAnderson Deshaun Watson, what a stand up guy….
@JosinaAnderson People are going to make a stink about it. Good for Deshaun
Shedeur Sanders expresses excitement ahead of first start
Shedeur Sanders appeared in the Cleveland Browns media availability on Wednesday after it became known that he was going to start against the Raiders. The quarterback expressed his excitement at the opportunity, noting his preparedness to get the job done.
“I'm truly excited for that, knowing that I have a piece of [the] offense and a say so and how things fit my eye and place the players exactly where they need to be," Sanders said this week, per ESPN. "Seeing how they come in and out of routes, seeing the structure of the O-linemen, seeing their set, just having a feeling. “I'm more of a feel type of person, so that's how I learn, that's how I do everything. I'm not just, 'Imma just watch it, it's just going to happen.' No, I got to be out there, feel it. I got to move around.”Shedeur Sanders was projected to be drafted in the first round in 2025 but ended up being selected by the Browns in the fifth round. This immediately created a lot of uncertainty about his future in the league, but he’s eventually getting a starting opportunity as a rookie.
