A wrestling legend has commented on John Cena after a big WWE controversy. The Last Real Champion has three dates left on his retirement tour and won the Intercontinental championship on RAW this week.
While this win was welcomed by the fans, the reaction was different when Cena was squashed by Brock Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza. The Beast squashed Cena with multiple suplexes and F5s in under 10 minutes. This was seen as a controversial decision, and fans criticized the booking.
Veteran Jim Cornette has now questioned why the Never Seen 17 hasn't addressed the annihilation by Lesnar. Speaking on Jim Cornette's Drive Thru, the legendary wrestling manager said it was odd that John Cena's beating by Lesnar hasn't been brought up.
"I'm astonished that even in character, as the young folks say, that John Cena has just never referred to the fact that Brock Lesnar just came out (and) just beat him like he f**king owed him money...And he doesn't want to get even before he fades off in the sunset? He's embarrassed, ashamed, he's never going to mention it again. That strikes me as so odd," he said.Is Rhea a Bigger Draw Than Brock Lesnar? - Watch Here!
Cornette added that The Champ's Intercontinental Title win is likely leading to a showdown with Gunther, where he will put the Ring General over. He said that it will make sense, but Cena jobbing to Lesnar didn't accomplish anything in the long term.
Cena's retirement tour has had some divisive moments. His heel turn didn't turn out as expected. The Never Seen 17 found his rhythm again as he went back to being the beloved babyface at SummerSlam.
He picked up a win over Logan Paul at Clash in Paris, but his momentum was halted in destructive fashion by the Beast Incarnate.
John Cena set to wrestle on his final RAW appearance
After winning the Intercontinental Title for the first time in his career this week on RAW, John Cena has more to give to his fans.
Ahead of his final appearance on WWE's flagship at Madison Square Garden, the 17-time WWE World Champion confirmed that he will compete on the night.
Taking to X/Twitter, he showed his gratitude for wrestling on RAW for all these years and said his favorite match is the next one, which will also be his last on the show.
