“He’ll only get stronger” - Jonathan Haggerty says upside is massive for young world champ Nabil Anane

Former two-sport king and now reigning and undisputed ONE bantamweight kickboxing world champion, ‘The General’ Jonathan Haggerty of the United Kingdo,m is all praise for Algerian-Thai phenom and reigning ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Nabil Anane.

The two were scheduled to face each other this year at ONE 173: Superbon vs. Noiri in Tokyo, but Haggerty suffered an injury while getting ready for that match.

Still, the 28-year-old out of Team Underground had nothing but flowery praise for the Algerian-Thai fighter. He told veteran ONE Championship reporter Nick Atkin in a recent interview:

“It's just up to him, you know, and how his body grows. I believe he's still young as well, so he'll only grow bigger, only get stronger. So maybe in the future he'll move up, but right now he's in the bantamweight division and he's got what I want.”

Haggerty believes Anane has potential upside, no matter if he stays at bantamweight or moves up to featherweight. And he expects great things from the 28-year-old.

That being said, ‘The General’ is looking to rebook his bout against Anane sometime in the next 12 months, as he wants to reclaim the Muay Thai belt from the Algerian-Thai star.

‘The General’ Jonathan Haggerty believes Nabil Anane is certainly on the right path in his career, and has made the necessary steps to upgrade his skills along with his physicality.

‘The General’ said:

“I think yeah, he's just come on leaps and bounds, so to speak. Yeah, 100 percent. I've seen it. Obviously, I feel like he's grown into his body a lot better. He's grown into the weight category. Yeah, he's definitely improved, hence why he's been beating all these top fighters. So yeah, we're ready to get on top.”
