“He knows he must fight forward” - Tawanchai wants to teach his son never to back down from any obstacle

ONE featherweight Muay Thai world champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai is one of the most dominant Muay Thai titleholders in the world today, and few men can match him strike for strike in the ring.

But though he used to fight for personal glory, these days Tawanchai fights for something much bigger than himself; he fights for his family.

Tawanchai is married, and together, he and his wife recently welcomed their first child. It’s an experience that has humbled the young Thai superstar. More importantly, he now wants to serve as a role model for his son.

He told ONE Championship:

“I hope that when my son grows up, no matter what difficulties or discouragement he faces, he remembers his father and knows he must fight forward, just like me.”

And if his son wants to follow in his footsteps and become a fighter, he will wholeheartedly support him. Tawanchai added:

“I don’t expect my son to become a Muay Thai fighter like me. I just want him to train in Muay Thai for self-defense. But if he feels like it, I will fully support him.”

Tawanchai returns to kickboxing action this weekend

Tawanchai PK Saenchai will return to the ring this weekend at ONE Friday Fights 137 to face ‘Spirit Dragon’ Liu Mengyang in the evening’s main event.

They battle in a three-round featherweight kickboxing contest on Friday, December 19, live in Asia primetime from Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

At ringside will be the people closest to him, cheering him on. Tawanchai told ONE:

“My family is always supporting me from behind, so right now, my focus is entirely on winning that Kickboxing World Championship.”
