Luka Doncic and the LA Lakers had a bit of fun with their extra time off. On Instagram, the team showed how Doncic had a friendly competition with coach JJ Redick. The Slovenian sensation challenged the former NBA player in a game of half-court shots. However, given that the star guard has more reps shooting it from such a distance, it ended up being one-sided.

Doncic and Redick each had two attempts at first. The five-time All-Star made both shots, while the coach struggled. The former Duke star was ready to move on, but the Lakers star insisted that they keep going. On their third attempt, they both missed.

On the fourth try, Redick missed the shot. Doncic, meanwhile, was feeling a bit confident and told his teammate, Deandre Ayton, that the ball won't touch the rim. He then nailed the shot perfectly, only touching the net. Ayton was taken aback by how good the 6-foot-6 star was.

“He just called that?” Ayton said. “Looked me dead in my eye and said that?”

JJ Redick talks about the Lakers' late-game mistake with Luka Doncic and LeBron James

During the game between the LA Lakers and Phoenix Suns on Sunday, LeBron James drew a technical foul from Dillon Brooks. After the officials called it, the Lakers had time to discuss strategy. However, James surprised everyone when he shot the technical free throw, which he missed.

Following the game, JJ Redick revealed that it was supposed to be Luka Doncic who should've shot the free throws. At that time, the Suns had a one-point lead, 114-113, and making the technical free throw was important.

“Guys were out on the court,” Redick said. “Luka and I talked. I thought Luka was going to shoot it. I walked back. LeBron was at the free throw line and he shot it. I don’t know what the dialogue on the court was. We did this at some point last year. “Early in the season, we designated ‘Here’s who going to shoot the technicals.’ Every team is different. Sometimes its the superstar, sometimes it’s the best free throw shooter, sometimes it’s the guy who maybe needs to see the ball go in the basket. It’s all situational. But Luka should have shot that.”

Fortunately for Luka Doncic and the Lakers, James made up for it when he drew a foul on his 3-point attempt. He knocked down two shots and gave the team a 116-114 win.
