It’s a sign of the times.
Eagle-eyed fans spotted Harry Styles in the massive crowd at the Vatican greeting Pope Francis’ successor, Pope Leo XIV, on Thursday.
The former One Direction member appeared to keep a low profile in a viral photo circulating on X.
Styles, 31, wore sunglasses, a blue jacket with the collar up and a gray hat reading, “Techno Is My Boyfriend.”
The coat looked to be the same one he wore during an April outing in London.
Social media users raved about the singer’s “random” outing in Rome, with one quipping that he has been “everywhere but in the studio fr.”
Another wrote, “he literally has more followers than the actual number of people who are right now in rome and he’s just standing there like he’s benson boone.”

Many joked that “they should have made him the pope” since Styles looked like he was “ready to be crowned.”
Some, however, cast doubt on the individual being the performer at all, with one writing, “Looks like a typical Roman dude to me, not sure that’s Harry.”
The Grammy winner notably sported the same facial hair when he attended Liam Payne’s funeral in November 2024.
He was joined by his former bandmates Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson at the time.
Payne died in October 2024 at age 31, with a “truly devastated” Styles penning a touching tribute to the “Strip That Down” singer via Instagram at the time.
“His greatest joy was making other people happy, and it was an honour to be alongside him as he did it,” he gushed.
“Liam lived wide open, with his heart on his sleeve, he had an energy for life that was infectious. He was warm, supportive, and incredibly loving,” Styles continued of his “lovely friend.”
Apart from the funeral, the “Don’t Worry Darling” star has remained primarily out of the spotlight in the last year — besides a surprise duet with Stevie Nicks in July 2024.
Styles and his latest girlfriend, Taylor Russell, broke up last year, and he has not been linked to any stars since.
