The Giants' season has long been off track from what was expected, but it's taken another unfortunate turn after an off-field incident ended OF Harrison Bader's season.
Already out with a foot injury, Bader was involved in a scooter accident that sent him to the hospital and officially ended his season.
The Giants gave Bader a two-year deal after he enjoyed a career year between the Twins and Phillies last season, but he posted a .557 OPS across only 30 games in his first season in San Francisco.

Harrison Bader scooter accident
While rehabbing plantar fasciitis in his foot after originally landing on the injured list with a hamstring injury, Bader injured the same foot in a scooter accident, the Giants revealed.
As it turns out, it wasn't a totally random mishap. SFist reported the incident occurred close to 2 a.m. PT on Sunday, with Bader crashing a scooter into the back of a firetruck and that firetruck then running over his foot and leaving him injured.
The San Francisco Fire Department never confirmed Bader's identity but confirmed to SFist that an individual was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after an accident involving a firetruck. Police later confirmed a scooter was involved.

What is Harrison Bader's injury?
Bader was already dealing with plantar fasciitis in his foot, and Giants manager Tony Vitello said after the scooter accident that a return this season "would have been a longshot to begin with" — though he left the door open for a return the previous week.
Bader injured the same foot in the scooter accident, the Giants said, but the severity of the injury is unclear. SFist described Bader as dealing with a "major injury" from having his foot run over by the firetruck.
Whether or not he had a chance to return this season before the accident, those hopes are now gone. Bader finishes his first season as a Giant having played in just 30 games with a dismal .557 OPS.

When will Harrison Bader return?
Bader won't be back this season, but the Giants haven't detailed the severity of his foot injury or a timeline for his recovery.
With Opening Day about eight months from the scooter accident, it's entirely possible a major injury could push back his timeline if the season starts as scheduled.

Believe it or not, this is not Bader's first scooter accident. He was suspended 19 games while at the University of Florida after crashing his scooter and being found unconscious with an odor of alcohol.
Bader hit a parked car during the incident, but he didn't face any criminal charges. Now, 12 years later, an incident perhaps even more bizarre officially ended his season at the major league level.
