Just as Hollywood power players decamp for deluxe summer destinations, the season started off with a wild twist in the Hamptons, sources exclusively tell us.

A prominent industry insider said on Saturday: “An Uber driver drove straight into someone’s pool in the posh estate section of Southampton on Wickapogue Road last night, and he said he was just following his GPS.”

Wickapogue is where the estate of late Sire Records founder Seymour Stein — who famously signed Madonna, The Ramones, The Pretenders and Talking Heads — is up for sale for $15 million. Other properties on the same small road are currently offered for between $11M and $16.25M, and it’s where the Southampton Hospital Foundation hosts its annual outdoor Summer Party. (Tables this year start at $15K.)

Local Southampton Village police exclusively confirmed the aquatic Uber incident to us.

“Officers responded to a report of an occupied vehicle in to a pool,” reads a “blotter narrative” from a responding officer. (A police report is not yet finalized.) “Upon arrival the listed subject was still in the vehicle and the vehicle was only partially submerged. The undersigned advised the listed subject to climb out of the front and to the back where he was able to exit the vehicle.”

The report goes on to say that the driver was not injured (thank goodness) and “stated he was an Uber driver and was just following his GPS. Rapid Recovery responded to remove the vehicle. Damage to the pool cover and coping was sustained from the vehicle going in to the pool and some more damage was created when being removed. The property was under construction. A representative was contacted and advised of same.”

While it’s so far unclear which home’s pool became a temporary parking spot, there’s at least one listing on Zillow for a new construction property on Wickapogue that hit the market just days ago, and is going for $14.7M spanning over 10,000 square feet. (Apparently GPS hasn’t caught up!)

Stars and VIPs with homes in Southampton include Jennifer Lopez, Howard Stern and Kelly Ripa as well as billionaires Ken Griffin, Leon Black, Robert Kraft and more.
