Half-court buzzer beater crushes under bettors in stunning fashion

RJ Felton's half-court buzzer beater ruined the day for under bettors. ESPN

It doesn’t get much worse than this.

During Tuesday night’s college basketball match up between North Texas and East Carolina, the clock struck zero with the Mean Green up 69-57 over the Pirates, seemingly locking in a win for Under bettors, falling short of the 128.5-point total.

But the game wasn’t quite over there.

Instead of letting the clock run out, the referees added a half-second to the clock, calling a 24-second violation on North Texas and giving East Carolina one last possession even with the game completely out of hand.

Then disaster struck for the Under takes – and a miracle came for those who were on the Over.

With just half a second left, Pirates guard RJ Felton chucked a ball from beyond half court that somehow went in, pushing the total over 128.5 by a half-point with a final score of 69-60.

College basketball die-hards immediately took to social media to rant about the massive swing on the total.

“Hey @notthefakeSVP I’ve found the WORST bad beat of all time,” Nic Costello wrote, referencing Scott Van Pelt’s legendary Bad Beats “SportsCenter” segment, wrote on X

“Oh no,” another X user wrote. “That is definitely up there on the all-time list.”

Some questioned whether Felton truly got the shot off in a half-second.

“Also no way he got that full shot off in 0.5 seconds,” @Demps9990 wrote

North Texas covered the spread as three-point favorites in the game regardless of the 3-point prayer by East Carolina.

The East Carolina Pirates blew a six-point lead to the Mean Green, being outscored by 15 in the second half and helping North Teaxs improve to 12-4 on the season.
