Hailey Van Lith gets last-minute roster announcement from Sky involving Angel Reese

It was never in a whole lot of doubt, but it's very difficult to make WNBA rosters given the small size of the league as a whole.

Hailey Van Lith got the official good news on Thursday when the Chicago Sky announced their initial 12-player roster.

HVL was on it, along with the likes of Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso, Kia Nurse and Courtney Vandersloot.

Van Lith was a late first-round pick after finishing her college career up at TCU.

She's one of the most well-known women's basketball players in the world. HVL starred at Louisville for three seasons, then had a bumpy singular year at LSU where she teamed with Reese.

Van Lith's final college season at TCU showed her special ability once again, and she led the Horned Frogs to their best season ever.

Now, she's part of the perfect situation in the WNBA.

Vandersloot is one of the best point guards in league history and can be a great mentor.

And the Reese/Cardoso combination in the frontcourt is a dream for a distributor.

Van Lith's early playing time could be hit or miss on a team with lots of backcourt experience.

But over time, HVL should grow into a key role in Chicago. It all starts Saturday against Caitlin Clark and the Fever in an absolutely marquee matchup.
