Gypsy Rose Blanchard Shares Chilling Words Said Before Mom’s Murder
Gypsy Rose Blanchard is speaking out about a recent controversy.
After audio clips of her using racial slurs in prison phone calls resurfaced online, the Life After Lock Up star issued a lengthy apology for using the offensive language, including the “cruel” comments she made about her sister Mia Blanchard’s interracial relationship with her fiancé Andre Pittman.
“I want to directly address some of the old prison phone calls that have recently been shared online,” Gypsy shared in a statement posted on her since-deleted TikTok account Aug. 21, per TMZ. “In those conversations, I used racist language and made cruel, disrespectful comments, including about people I love, my sister Mia and her fiancé André.”
“What I said was wrong,” she continued. “The words were racist and I take full responsibility for saying them. There is no excuse for that language or the pain it’s caused.”
In the snippets of the resurfaced phone calls, which recently began circulating on social media, Gypsy—who served seven years in prison for assisting her ex-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn in the 2015 murder of her mother Claudine “Dee Dee” Blanchard—allegedly could be heard using racist language, including multiple uses of the N-word, in conversations with her now ex-husband Ryan Anderson as well as family members.
One viral clip allegedly featured Gypsy and Ryan laughing and making racist remarks about her sister Mia dating Andre, who is Black, along with her history of other interracial relationships.
In another viral excerpt from a call between Gypsy and Ryan—who broke up three months after her release from prison, with their divorce being finalized in December 2024—the Lifetime star allegedly admitted that she’s a racist, but that she would never tell her sister that.
In her statement, Gypsy apologized to the Black community for her use of “hateful and demeaning” language, noting that she understood "the anger and disappointment those words carry.”

The 35-year-old then addressed her sister and her fiancé directly, writing, “I'm especially sorry. You didn't deserve that then, and you don't deserve the hurt now.”
“Since coming home, being able to have a relationship with you both has meant so much,” she continued, “and it's heartbreaking that my own words have caused this pain and damaged that trust. I've apologized privately, and I understand forgiveness or reconciliation is not something I'm owed. I respect whatever boundaries you need and accept that healing happens on your timeline, not mine.”

According to Gypsy—who welcomed 19-month-old daughter Aurora with boyfriend Ken Urker in December 2024—her previous behavior is not a reflection of the person she is today.
“Those words and attitudes don't reflect who I am or what I believe now,” she explained. “I reject them completely. I know saying that isn't enough, and that my actions over time have to demonstrate change. I can't go back and undo what I said. What I can do is acknowledge it fully, learn from it, and continue choosing to be better every single day.”
