Guardians trade pitch sends Steven Kwan to Mets for elite prospect

Some believe that the Cleveland Guardians could move on from Steven Kwan, which would be a questionable decision.

Kwan has his flaws, like every player in baseball, but the simple fact of the matter is that he's an elite bat-to-ball hitter, and the Guardians love that.

However, if they could get a massive return, the Guardians could look to move on from any player outside of Jose Ramirez.

When searching for a potential trade for the All-Star outfielder, Sports Illustrated proposed the idea of sending him to the New York Mets. The trade would bring back two prospects, something the Guardians could be interested in due to the age of the players in the deal.

Cleveland Guardians receive: Luisangel Acuna and Brandon Sproat.

New York Mets receive: Kwan.

“The Guardians have a pretty big hole in their middle infield. They are not getting much production at all out of shortstop Bryan Rocchio and Daniel Schneemann. Acuña can play both shortstop and second base and is an elite defender. He's got room to grow offensively as his numbers have been up and down, but his power has not been there this season...

“Brandon Sproat has shined in his last four starts in triple-A Syracuse, giving up just one run and eight hits over 23 innings pitched. After a rocky start, he's now brought his ERA down to 4.34 over 19 starts,” SI wrote

The biggest return here would be Brandon Sproat. Sproat has proven to be an above-average arm in Triple-A and should be a full-time Big League starter shortly.

However, it isn't exactly like this is the guarantee that the Guardians have with Kwan. They already know that he's an All-Star player, so there might have to be more added from the Mets' perspective.
