The Cleveland Guardians released 11 players this weekend.
It's not quite as dramatic as it seems, but it's still notable.
The Guardians are trying to get their minor league rosters in order, and they simply had too many guys in the organization.
Guardians Prospective shared this list of 11 players released by Cleveland:
- LHP Jake Berry
- RHP Ross Carver
- RHP Jose Contreras
- RHP Sean Heppner
- RHP Jose Ramirez
- RHP Alonzo Richardson
- RHP Tyler Thornton
- RHP Julio Zapata
- C David Leon
- C Johnny Tincher
- INF Bryce Arnold

Most of those names aren't particularly relevant, as, the Guardians may not have seen most of these guys ever contributing at the MLB level.
Thornton's name might sound familiar. The right-hander has worked out of MLB bullpens before
It's not encouraging for any of these guys to be cut at this point, though. Their only chance of making it in professional baseball is to be on a minor league roster somewhere to try to show what they can do.
If the Guardians didn't like them, it's not likely that a bunch of other teams do.
