Guardians' Chase DeLauter continues to make MLB history with third HR in two games

The Cleveland Guardians are beginning the season with a 1-1 record against one of the two ALCS teams from a year ago in the Seattle Mariners.

One of the big reasons they won the first game of the year was Chase DeLauter hitting two home runs. And while they lost the second game against Seattle, DeLauter continued his home-run hitting prowess, launching his third HR in two games.

As MLB researcher Sarah Langs shared on Twitter/x, DeLauter continues to make MLB history, joining only two other players since 1900 to hit three home runs in their first two games. One is from the 1950's while the other is still active in the Majors.

Chase DeLauter makes more MLB history in 2nd game

"Chase DeLauter is the third player since at least 1900 with 3 home runs in his first two career regular season games, joining: 2016 Trevor Story (and) 1954 Joe Cunningham," Langs shared.

This is some incredible history for DeLatuer to make. Not only is he off to an incredibly hot start to his MLB career, but he's etching his name in MLB's long history with a rare feat.

Trevor Story joined this history with the Colorado Rockies 10 years ago, and he was the first person since Cunningham over 60 years before to record three homers in his first two games.

DeLauter is now the third player to begin their career on such a home-run streak. Hitting a first home run is a very cool moment, and currently in DeLauter's career, he has more home runs than games played in the MLB regular season.

What makes this home-run streak for DeLauter even more interesting is that in both games, he hit a home run in his first at-bat.

The Guardians' rookie is off to an incredible start to his first MLB regular season after making his Major League debut in last year's postseason.

DeLauter isn't letting the moment get to him, and he's been the best rookie so far this season, even with incredible performances from other rookies all across baseball.

It's going to be a great AL Rookie of the Year race, and DeLauter should be in the thick of it. Even if his home run total slows down, his offensive upside is more than enough to get excited about.
